I landed a little long and hot, and ran off end of runway, Bent main struts and broke one mount, both easily fixed. Will order parts, repair and continue test flight program. Overall it flys well and looks good in the air. Im happy.
Congrats on the maiden. Any idea why you landed long and hot?
Thanks,

yep, mainly old and stupid. was worried about fuel but didnt need to be. oh yeh, SF16 (fist time with one) worked great. Jet was solid before gyro turned on then super with gyro.

Well, it's tougher than I thought. Minor damage to mounts that wont require remove/replace. I am going to put a backer of G10 on top of mount and replace wood screws with blind nuts and screws. When new struts arrive I will be good to go again.

Checking in, thinking of ordering one of these, probably a Jet Cat 160, Powerbox Mercury/isat gyro, and my Core radio.

It's a really nice kit. I think that the 160 may be a bit much for this kit though.

Thanks,
Tone

is there a specific a reason why you think a 160 maybe too much?

It can take a 160n but it will be a tight fit and not sure if the additional weight would be worth it.
Thanks,
Tone

I had a Cheeta 160SE in mine. It fit fine and was not too much power.

Glad to hear. I prefer putting a Jet Cat in because they are local so I dont have to wait for service if I need it. I just put a P100 in a Pilot Viper and other than the old GSU design I rather like it.

I have 7.5" and it can go back more. It's hard to get it balanced as everything is in the nose.

Its a great jet. You will love it. You may have to add a little weight into the nose so build accordingly.

I used the factory CG of 160mm from the leading edge of the wing. Considered moving it back eventually but since it has been flying well, I never got around to experimenting with it. I did experiment with ailerons. I did not like the way it felt and went back to a traditional set up.

Thanks,
Tone

By traditional set up I mean elevators, ailerons and flaps. Not the tailerons, ailerons and flaps that I tried.
Thanks,
Tone

7.5" is a190mm back and seems like it would be a bit tail heavy. But I have never tried it. Please let me know how you like 160mm.
Thanks,
Tone
